San Marino GP 2020: What to expect?

So after a breather for 2 weeks, we are back again with some Racing action, with 3 back to back races and total 9 races in 11 weeks starting with the double header at Gran Premio Lenovo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini on the beautiful Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

After an unprecedented first 5 races of a shortened season due to Covid-19, we have already seen 4 riders and 3 manufacturers winning the races, which makes the Misano double header even more important. Some Good and Bad news have already made their way, Good that we might see some spectators in the stands and Bad that we have got report of 2 Positive Covid cases in the Paddock including Moto2 title contender, Jorge Martin.

With so much already going on this season, let's take a look on what to expect from the San Marino GP.

Yamahas have come to Misano with high hopes after awful weekends at Austria/Styria, wishing that the twisty circuit of Misano would give them some relief and their high corner speed and better handling can narrow down the effect of top speed deficit to literally every other manufacturer this year including Aprilia and Suzuki.

Also, last year's results show that Yamahas may find some solace here when all 4 Yamahas lined up after Winner Marquez taking 2nd to 5th spot. But, as we have already been seeing woes of Japanese manufacturer in the past as well and considering the level other manufacturers are currently at, it wouldn't be an easy task for Yamahas to secure a win here.

Before last year, Yamahas were on podium in 2016 with Rossi securing 2nd place. So Yamaha would be hoping that everything falls in place perfectly for them to win the race.

Last year, Quartararo almost won the San Marino GP after a tough fight with eventual winner Marquez, so his hopes would be high after dismal performance in last 3 races.

Being his home race, Rossi would be very eager to get back to winning ways as well and his current form on Race day seems good enough to get him his second podium of the season, just that he needs to find that one lap speed which has caused him big troubles in last 3 races. Also, his retirement rumors have sent his fans all over the world in shock, though he has clarified that he does not have any such plans. Hoping to see him win at Misano.

Vinales/Morbidelli both are also strong contenders here.

Dovizioso is as usual one of the favorites, winner of 2018 and being his last year at Works Ducati with no clear plans for 2021, he would like to win the championship this year, it might be now or never case for him. So he would be putting his everything on the table for every race now.

Suzuki, despite some bad results recently due to crashes, have shown what they are capable of this year, with Rins crashing out of lead and Mir losing the chance to win his maiden MotoGP race due to Red Flag in Styrian GP, their hunger for win would be more than anyone else right now and Misano circuit would be favorable for them as well at least on paper.

KTM already have shown their caliber this year, winning 2 races, can also not be ruled out. Each one of their rider is so immensely talented and have shown that with no Marquez, they can even take KTM to constructor's championship this year. Pol has already smelt win recently and his frustration is at peak with losing so many chances and with South African Brad Binder and Portuguese Miguel Olivera winning races for KTM before him.

Poor HRC, who were solely relying on MM93 and ignoring other riders is paying price this year with their best hope currently in form of Takaaki Nakagami. Although Taka has proved that if given proper attention, he could win races for HRC but I know as soon as Marc is back, things will be back to what they were. Hope HRC have learnt their lesson this time.

Other riders like Zarco, Petrucci, AE etc seem less likely to get near top 6 in my opinion.

Last but not the least, one of the most promising rider this year, Jack Miller. He has been in the mix of podium places in almost all the races. He seems to be the one who is being able to best adapt to all circuit conditions as well as new Michelin rear tyre in 2020. Hope to see him fighting again for a podium or may be a win in one of the double headers at Misano.

That's all Folks. Do you agree to my analysis? Please comment to let me know your point of view.

Also read:  Why Rossi is still loved? He uses title "The Doctor" and a lot of his Fans are still not sure why? The following Information is from one of his short documentries.  "Since dominating the 500 cc category later known as MotoGP, "The Doctor" has become the nickname of choice for Rossi. Some Lesser Known Facts about Modi ji..!

Let's take a look at some of the least known interesting incidents from Modi ji's life..! Decades back, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh asked Modiji to join Congress.  Ramesh said " Mr Modi, if you'd like to leave BJP, then there's a vacancy for you in Congress". But Modiji declined it with a classic reply! Modi ji replied " You'll face lots of problems, I am from Sangh parivar. The way you are dividing, perhaps you will have to answer this". This proved two things: * Decades back too, Congress party knew the calibre of Modiji * Modiji never compromised with his ethics. ********************************************************************************************************** In 2001, Atal ji called Modi ji & asked "Where are you?" Modiji replied "I am in Smashaan" Atal ji said " If you say you are in Smashaan, then what shall I tell ", And then Atal ji asked the reason for his visit to the graveyard! Modiji replied

The Story Behind So Less Records Being Broken in MotoGP these days

MotoGP, the fastest 2 wheel sport in the world, is facing a real problem in last few years, LACK OF NEW RECORDS.   Not that the riders are not of that caliber any more, obviously we have Marc Marquez, Maverik Vinales, Quartarao, Pol and Valentino Rossi, the Doctor on the track, so what has changed?  Michelin became the Tyre supplier in MotoGP in 2016 and still Bridgestone has track records for about half of the tracks on the calendar.  Michelin has race records at Jerez, Le Mans, Losail, Misano, Mugello, Sachsenring, Sepang and Valencia. Bridgestone holds race records at Aragon, Assen, Brno, COTA, Motegi, Phillip Island and Termas. In a sport like MotoGP where technology is advancing at such fast pace, five years is really a very long time to keep your records. So what is the reason for that?  2 major reasons I can think of: Firstly, Michelin Tyres, although Michelin’s front slick precedes its rear slick whenever MotoGP riders take to the track, in terms of performance the front lags b
